Memphis Empty Bowls Project

In 2011, Memphis was singled out as the most food insecure city in America. Our community saw the need to fill empty bowls in Memphis and sought initiatives for change. The goals of the project are threefold: 1) Raising awareness about food insecurity in our city 2) Raising funds and publicity for local organizations committed to fighting hunger 3) Encouraging our community to experience creativity as an act of compassionate service to our neighbors.

Join hundreds of people from all over Shelby County to fight local hunger at the annual Memphis Empty Bowls Project fundraising event. Choose a beautiful handcrafted bowl to take home as a reminder of the bowls that go empty in the Memphis area, as well as the inspiring work being done in our community to fight hunger. Guests are invited to enjoy a delicious, simple dinner of soup (donated by local restaurants) and bread and desserts while listening to live music.
