Hard Hats with Heart

American Heart Association

According to the American Heart Association, one in 25 construction workers has cardiovascular disease, one in 25 has diabetes, one in four is obese, and one in four uses tobacco. In fact, construction industry workers have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease compared to other industries, based on lifestyle factors such as smoking, nutrition, and physical activity levels. Hard Hats with Heart is the American Heart Association’s campaign to end heart disease and stroke and to increase wellness among those in the construction trades by providing resources, education and inspiration to help employees live a heart-healthier lifestyle. Led by 2021 Hard Hats with Heart Chair Andy Davis, Vice President and Business Manager of Turner Construction Company and AHA board member, the Mid-South’s first ever Hard Hats with Heart campaign raised more than $115,000 for the American Heart Association.
