More than 500 people joined Jewish Community Partners, Memphis Jewish Federation, and Jewish Foundation of Memphis for the first A Taste of Israel event, held this year at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Members of every local congregation, unaffiliated Jews, and plenty of their non-Jewish friends gathered to try delicious Israeli-inspired kosher dishes created by Erling Jensen, José Gutierrez, Karen Carrier, Josh Steiner, and Shelly Ostrow. Celebrating Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) together, attendees danced to live music by the Israeli Band The Shuk, and sampled abundant varieties of Israeli wine.
