NEXUS, a leadership program pairing proteges and mentors for a ten month-long cycle, held a reception at the Dixon Gallery & Garden to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Approximately 1,100 people have gone through the program over the two decades. NEXUS holds monthly plenary sessions with presentations from a variety of community leaders and also encourages monthly interaction between pairs of proteges and mentors. Many of the pairs stay in touch for years to follow. Many mentors serve several times and many proteges come back as mentors. In this way, the program grows in depth and reach. The reception brought back alumni from many years as well as current participants. Founder Kem Wilson spoke of how lives were impacted and strong bonds of friendship forged, all for the betterment of the larger community as well as the participants. nexusleaders.org
