Dreary winter days are ideal for a painting project, and there is not a more simple way to transform or freshen up a piece of furniture than with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®.
If you have ever used chalk paint, you know how fantastic it is. If not, grab a paint brush and try it out! It is a decorative furniture paint, and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is designed to be easy to use, quick and reliable. Very rarely does it require any preparation, such as sanding or priming, plus it can be used indoors or outside on just about any surface. Versatility is another feature of Chalk Paint®. It can be used to paint wood, metal, melamine, and flooring. It can be even used to dye fabric and paint glass!

Experts at The Truffle Pig in Collierville show us in a few easy steps how to create a unique and special piece!

If your furniture has any hardware, such as handles, remove those if possible. Use a damp cloth (avoid any harsh chemicals) and give it a quick clean. Stir your Chalk Paint® color. You can use a stir stick or anything else you have on hand. Dip your brush in, and apply the paint straight onto the furniture. As you paint, move the brush in every direction and all over the piece. Wait for the first coat to be touch dry. Depending on the climate, this could take 1-3 hours. Once dry, apply a second coat in the same manner.
Wait for the paint to be fully dry.

Next, apply Chalk Paint® Wax in the same manner as the paint. Use a brush or lint-free cloth to apply in all directions. Work in sections removing any excess with a lint-free cloth as you go. Make sure every bit of paintwork has been waxed.
And that’s it! You can use the piece of furniture as soon as the wax is dry to the touch, but please note it will take up to two weeks to reach its full hardness (known as the ‘curing period’). During this time, take extra care with the piece.
