Marcella Simien Creole Roots + Memphis Soul

Marcella moved to the Bluff City after high school to attend the Memphis College of Art. “I applied to SCAD in Savannah, a couple schools in New Orleans, and MCA. I got into them all, but I just really liked the vibe of Memphis. When I visited the
college, I just knew this was where I needed to be.
Driving through Overton Park, I felt the energy of the city and it just felt right.”

Emerging Memphis Designer Project

Memphis Fashion Week’s (MFW)
Emerging Memphis Designer Project (EMDP) was built out of a need in the Memphis Community for local emerging designers to present their pieces to a wider audience. Memphis Fashion Week works with selected designers through a seven month process to fine tune designs, pick fabrics, fit models and complete designs
for the runway. At the end of the process MFW hopes
to see their designers grow their skills, promote their businesses and enhance the design industry in Memphis.
