THE FIRST ENCOUNTER: Josh and I met our sophomore year in high school through a mutual friend. I remember when I first laid eyes on him I thought he was so handsome and wanted to get to know him more. We exchanged numbers and began texting non-stop, and the rest was history!
IN PREPARATION: We had a lot of fun planning our wedding. My mom stepped in as my “in house” wedding coordinator and helped me plan the entire thing from start to finish. I could not have done it without her! Cedar Hall and the team there were amazing to work with. One of our family friends Tara Guenther, who is an interior designer, helped us create the vision we had for the ceremony and reception.
THE BIG DAY: The big day began at Glo Medical Aesthetics, where my bridesmaids, mother, grandmother and I got our hair and make-up done. Once everyone was finished, we headed to Cedar Hall. Josh and I did a “first look” so we could take our photos before the ceremony. I loved doing this! Many people are hesitant about doing a first look because they don’t want to be seen before the ceremony, but I highly recommend it! It was a special moment between just Josh and me, and we got to soak up the excitement with one another before the ceremony. The humidity on a hot, July day lifted and couldn’t have been more perfect for the outdoor ceremony. Memphis String Quartet and Deedra Stone Designs created the perfect ambiance. At the reception we kept being told how our wedding was right out of a fairytale and we couldn’t agree more. It was everything we had hoped for and more!
THE RETREAT: We honeymooned in Great Exuma, Bahamas at Sandals Emerald Bay. I cannot even begin to express how much we loved this place and the people there! We stayed in a honeymoon suite and had our own personal butlers who we befriended and still keep in touch with to this day. We were literally in our own little paradise. We went scuba diving in the neon blue waters of Exuma, swam with pigs and toured the beautiful island we now hold very dear to our hearts. We made friends with a lot of other newlyweds who were also on their honeymoon and all pitched in to take a bus and a ferry ride to the hang-out spot of the locals: Chat ‘N Chill. It was such a cool experience! We hope to visit the beautiful island of Great Exuma again for an anniversary!
